Everyday Adventures
You can smell the scent of fresh rolls on the streets in the morning and in the evenings you can either drink your beer from tiny glasses or from huge mugs. Germans prefer international food to the local fare and speak a language that sounds harsh sometimes to the untrained ear.
“Only miracles make everyday life bearable” wrote the Swiss author Max Frisch. But what are the miracles of everyday life in Germany?
How do people party and flirt, how do they live and love? Do the Germans really live up to their stereotype of being super-punctual, super-diligent and super-clean? Is Germany a right-wing country? Does a German man really care more about his car than about his family? And what makes Germans laugh? Every stereotype contains a certain amount of truth but also a certain amount of derision. That is why we have tried to find out how foreigners who have lived and experienced everyday life in Germany see the country.
What do people who have moved to Germany – have to say about religion and the local beer, about the passes made at them, about car mania, leather trousers and late-night shopping (not!).
