What's the euro?
Thanks, trusty Deutschmark, for a job well done! Since January 1, 2002, you have to pay for everything with the euro. (1 euro equals 1.95583 marks) People could still pay with marks until the end of February 2002, and even after that those old coins and bills aren’t exactly stuff for the recycling bin or smelting furnace. After February, old coins and bills can still be exchanged for the euro at Germany’s Federal Central Bank and all its regional offices.
