Friedrich Naumann Foundation

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation of the Free Democratic Party of Germany is the foundation for liberal politics in Germany. It offers foreign undergraduates scholarships towards obtaining their first university degree. Graduate students are funded on the basis of two-year extended program of study. They may also apply for a PhD scholarship if the subject matter is of special academic and social importance.

The following three criteria are essential for your application:

-Exceptional academic ability:
This doesn't only cover a higher-than-average talent in your field of study but also other abilities and interests.

-Outstanding personality:
What counts here are reliability, diligence, the ability to take decisions and the willingness to accept responsibility and actively contribute with one's abilities to furthering social development.

-Liberal political and social activities:
We expect applicants to be active in student self-administration, on university boards, in a liberal party and in a political student organisation or in socio-political institutions and associations.

Foreign scholarship holders will be expected to use their acquired skills and knowledge to the best advantage and welfare of their home countries.
